What you'll be doing

The Underwriter responsible for examination, review and analysis of real estate title report or abstract, deed, lien and survey in order to validate property ownership and exist lien in a home purchase or refinance transaction. Possess the knowledge and skill to determine if there noticeable defect in the record that affect the property and it insurability or that give rise to a future title insurance claim. The Underwriter also identify those item require to insure title and responsible for generate title commitment and policy that must comply with the underwriter guideline of various national title insurance company.

What your background should be

Minimum of five years experience in some aspect of real estate law and/or title insurance. Must have a high degree of computer literacy as all data is entered into a computer system. Must be experienced in resolving both simple and complex title issues. Must be detail oriented, organized and possess research skills useful in evaluating a properties insurability. Applicant should be familiar with Georgia real estate law and real estate transactions. Ideal candidate should also be self motivated, able to work independently and possess excellent time management and follow up skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely to articulate risk issues to national title insurance underwriters. Posses exceptional internal and external customer service skills.

Required Schooling / Training

A law degree is helpful but not required.
