VOD Engineer

What you'll be doing: Delivery of high quality, uninterrupted, highly reliable VOD content. Administer, configure, monitor and troubleshoot the VOD content management workflow. Quickly assessing and prioritizing the day tasks using a variety of communication tools. Encode quick turnaround program elements for VOD packaging and processing. Perform analysis, diagnosis/root cause to troubleshoot issues related to company VOD channels, including: Assessing the impact of content issues that arise as part of daily operations. Validating that audio/video equipment is properly configured for optimal results. Analyzing metadata and error files to pinpoint the source of the problem.

What your background should be: Experience in video and audio systems engineering. Demonstrated understanding of encoding and video compression techniques for on-demand video streaming environments. Demonstrated knowledge of cable labs VOD specifications, XML, and digital television technologies (encoders/decoders, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, Dolby Digital audio, etc.) Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with peers in content operations, programming and engineering. Demonstrated understanding of content management systems. Ability to quickly learn various computer applications including internal programs critical to VOD processing.

Required Schooling / Training: Bachelors of science degree in engineering, computer science
