What you'll be doing

Ensure quality and damage free loads are being shipped to stores. Maintain overtime standards and ensure that company guidelines for overtime are enforced. Ensure that each area of warehouse operations is in compliance with company policy and communicate policy revisions in a timely manner to associates. Guide department leads and assist in his/her development. Communicate with supervisors and the warehouse manager any issues that occur during the shift that my affect other warehouse departments. Make certain that sanitation standards are being maintained throughout the warehouse. Administer disciplinary action to associates who violate company policy. Assist in scheduling vacations and holidays for associates. Keep associates abreast of company issues and policies. Disperse associates between both storage facilities to ensure that manpower issues are covered. Run unaccounted time report daily from the labor management system to ensure associates are in compliance with company policy of no more than 20 unaccounted minutes a day. Supervise training of new associates and monitor their progress daily. Observe department staffing daily and make adjustments where needed. Answer associate call-ins and replace if necessary. Verify daily that associates are on a labor management assignment. Hold weekly departmental meetings. Attend unemployment and workers compensation hearings when necessary. Efficiently lead the associates of the department toward attaining their individual and combined goals through hands-on guidance. Supervise associates with audit errors and the correction of these errors. Correct and post daily any outstanding associate hours on the labor management system, at the end of each shift. Secure warehouse facility on Saturdays; gates, doors and alarms. Strive to find more efficient ways to do the job and seek to reduce costs and improve labor productivity. Observe, report and correct when appropriate any unsafe and unsanitary conditions that could cause associate and /or customer accidents.

What your background should be

Analytical, written and oral communication skills. Knowledge and experience working with distribution management. Ability to analyze, identify problems and implement solutions. Ability to work in a 5 degree to 90+ degree fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of time. Ability to use PC/CRT and operate AS400 systems. Ability to perform basic math skills to complete necessary reports. Ability to motivate associates and deal effectively with performance issues.

Required Schooling / Training

Bachelor of science or equivalent.
