What you'll be doing
- Operate a conventional tow truck in relocating vehicles from one location to another. Response to dispatch calls requests services in a timely fashion. Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to evaluate supply levels, safety compliance, and equipment functionality. Work with the SHP and hickory police in identifying, retrieving and safely and efficiently transporting abandoned vehicle to the impound facility. Assist customers with various emergency road services to include jump starts, lock outs, flat tires, winch outs and towing services. Ensure the safe and efficient transport of vehicles utilizing industry standard towing guidelines and optimal service delivery. Conduct routine vehicle inspection and document finding prior to engaging in tow related activities. Ensure safety compliance to include vehicle strapping and engagement, the use of dolly equipment, wheel jacks and vehicle security. Perform other duties as assigned.
What your background should be
- Minimum of 1 year of related experience preferred. Working knowledge of tow truck equipment, operations, and procedures preferred. Any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Must possess a valid state issued driving license. Must possess an acceptable driving record. Able to obtain a tow operators certification. Good verbal and written communication skills. General knowledge of basic maintenance processes, safety standards, and equipment usage. Basic ability to perform light vehicle operations to include jump starts, tire changing, etc.
Required Schooling / Training
- High school diploma or GED required.
